Rimple Nayyar started his career as an Environmental Engineer in Grand Rapids, Michiganbutbe came enamored with wine in the mid-1990s. This led to a moonlighting job at a wine retail store where he could be seen on Friday evenings and Saturdays to help patron select wines, offer advice on wine and food pairings, etc. This passion for wines eventually led to opening the first wine bar, Bar Divani,in Grand Rapids in 2002, long before wine bars became common around the country. His impetus to start the wine bar was to teach people about wines and make it more accessible without the intimidation. His passion was, and still is wine and food pairings. Bar Divani was a wine focused restaurant/wine bar offering global cuisine small plates. He started offering weekly wine education classes, labeled as “wine socials”, as well as monthly wine dinners to showcase winemakers from the world and pairing their wines with food.

In 2013, Rimple took up the position of Food and Beverage Director at Peter IslandResort and Spain the British Virgin Islands. He overhauled the food and wine offerings at this idyllic resort, upscaling it on par with many Michelin starred restaurants. He started offering weekly wine classes and wine dinners, which were sold out months in advance. He worked with guest chefs to create wine and food weekends.

In 2015, Rimple left Peter Island for the sunny climes of Napa, California to be closer to his parents and be with his partner who was working for a winery in Napa Valley. Being passionate about bubbles, it was meant to be that he got a job as a wine educator at Schramsberg. In 2016, he was asked to take on the role of Hospitality Manager for the new tasting room that Schramsberg was opening in St. Helena, CA.

In this role, he manages all aspects of the day-to-dayoperations, including coordination and execution of a high-end wine tasting and education experience. He has developed various experiences to highlight the pairing principles of wine and food including a cheese tasting, a caviar brunch tasting and most recently a multi course educational wine and food pairing. He has alsotravelledfor Schramsberg to conduct wine dinners around the country.

Rimple is a graduate of rigorous 2-year Diploma certification from the prestigious Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) based in London. He is also a Certified Sommelier from Court of Master Sommeliers, as well as Certified Specialist of Wines from Society of Wine Educators.
