There's a moment at the start of every treatment at KiYara Spa when the room goes quiet except for the Caribbean Sea breaking against the rock below. Your phone stays at the door. Then comes the scent of whatever your therapist has blended for you that day: coconut, cool mint, green aloe, warm stone.
At The Cliff Hotel, a Virtuoso-approved boutique resort on Negril's West End cliffs, the spa isn't a separate world. It sits in the same landscape as everything else here. If you're wondering what goes into the treatments, here's the answer.
A name that honors the island's first people
KiYara takes its name from the Taino, the first inhabitants of Jamaica. The word means "sacred place of the earth's spirit." The menu was built around that idea. It blends traditional and modern healing techniques with indigenous Jamaican botanicals, herbs and ingredients, drawing on the island's long tradition of herbal healing.
The spa is small on purpose. Its two treatment rooms face the Caribbean Sea, and the sanctuary is built of bamboo and natural stone. Many treatments happen in open-air settings on the cliffs, cooled by trade winds off the Caribbean Sea. Our therapists work under the guidance of wellness expert Carolyn Jobson. Every body ritual is custom-blended for the person on the table.
Coconut from local, organically grown palms
The treatment that says the most about where you are is the Coconut Cocoon. It's a 90-minute body ritual that nourishes and replenishes the skin with enriched blends made from local, organically grown coconuts.
Our menu calls it "a delightful, nutty tropical treat." It's especially good after a few days of sun and swimming off the hand-carved cliff ladders.
Aloe, mint and the answer to too much sun
Negril's West End is known for its sunsets, and the sunshine comes with them. The Aloe-Mint Skin Soother is a 60-minute treatment made for that. It cools and calms sun-stressed skin, eases inflammation and soaks dry skin with moisture.
Mint shows up again in our Cool Vibes & High Fives wellness package. The package pairs a Cooling Island Mint Body Scrub with a massage and a Refresher Cucumber Facial, for a 125-minute reset.
Noni and fresh plant blends for the face
The facial menu keeps to the same idea: the purest natural ingredients and the gentlest techniques.
- Balancing Noni Facial (60 minutes): Noni is a balancing plant known for its healing and antioxidant properties. It helps protect the skin's elasticity and keep it youthful.
- Nature Pure Botanical Facial (60 minutes): This is our gentlest facial, recommended for sensitive skin and anyone in need of deep hydration. Fresh whole-plant blends and extracts cleanse, calm and renew.
Across our Tropical Body Rituals, the building blocks stay the same. There are fresh plant enzymes, natural antioxidants, nourishing plant oils and butters, and herbs long prized for their therapeutic benefits. We use exfoliation, masks, wraps and massage, in whatever combination your skin needs that day.
Stone, heat and the rhythm of the cliffs
Not every local element is a botanical. Our hot stone massage uses warm, river-tumbled volcanic island stones to bring on deep relaxation over 75 minutes. For deeper work, Deep KiYara Bodywork (60, 90 or 120 minutes) releases long-held tension and adds gentle stretching. Vital Reflexology works pressure points on the feet and hands, and the Balancing Massage uses breathwork to settle the mind.
Expecting guests can book the 50-minute Mother to be Massage, which gently eases the discomforts of pregnancy.
How a spa day fits into a stay at The Cliff Hotel
KiYara Spa, the Yoga Pavilion, the fitness center and the beauty salon are all just steps from every suite and villa. A day here tends to find its own rhythm:
- Morning: Yoga overlooking the Caribbean Sea, then breakfast under the almond tree at The Restaurant at The Cliff Hotel.
- Midday: A body ritual or facial while the trade winds move through the treatment space. Afterward, a swim in the clifftop pools.
- Sunset: A romantic couples massage timed to the Negril sunset, or cocktails on the Cliff Deck.
- Evening: A swim in the natural pool at the edge of the Caribbean Sea, under the stars. For a special night, a private dinner for two in our cave at the edge of the Caribbean Sea.
Butler service across the Villa and Suite Collection makes it easy to plan the day around your appointments. Guests in the one-bedroom suites can start the morning with in-room Blue Mountain Coffee before walking down to the spa.
