What excites us most is not simply the arrival of a new program, but the people who will help give it life. A thoughtful group of creators brings with it fresh perspective, curiosity, and the ability to see a place clearly. And few places reward that kind of attention more than the West End Negril of Jamaica.
Over the coming days, these creators will spend time not only at The Cliff, but in and around a part of the island defined by beauty, character, rhythm, and atmosphere. Our hope is that they will capture not only images, but feeling. The calm of the coastline. The texture of the light. The individuality of the West End. The kind of details that make this part of Jamaica so memorable to those who experience it well.
That, to us, is what makes this inaugural residency so meaningful.
It is an opportunity to welcome a special group of talented people and give them the time and space to interpret the West End in their own way. In doing so, they help tell a larger story, one that goes beyond any one property and speaks to the appeal, creativity, and distinct sense of place that make this coastline so compelling.
We are honored to host this first group and excited for what is sure to be an engaging, productive, and inspiring week. As the first chapter in what we intend to become a biannual tradition, this residency begins with the creators themselves and with the work they will make.
